Description:
Alexandr Polyakov and Stas Svistunovich have discovered some vulnerabilities in MODx, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks.

1) Input passed to the "search" parameter in manager/index.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that the target user has valid administrator credentials.

2) Input passed to the "highlight", "email", and "name" parameters in index.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

3) A vulnerability is caused due to the application allowing users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests without performing any validity checks to verify the request. This can be exploited to change administrator passwords by tricking an administrator into opening a malicious webpage.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.9.6.1p1 and reported in version 0.9.6.1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised. Do not browse untrusted websites while logged on to MODx.
