Description: Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in CA Internet Security Suite, which can be exploited by malicious people to overwrite arbitrary files.
1) The UmxEventCli.CachedAuditDataList.1 ActiveX control (UmxEventCli.dll) includes the insecure "SaveToFile()" method, which can be exploited to overwrite and corrupt arbitrary files on the system in the context of the currently logged-on user.
2) The XMLSecDB.IDSParser.1, XMLSecDB.SBXParser.1, XMLSecDB.APPParser.1, XMLSecDB.FWParser.1, and XMLSecDB.CFParser.1 ActiveX controls (UmxXmlSd.dll) include the insecure "Save()" method, which can be exploited to overwrite and corrupt arbitrary files on the system in the context of the currently logged-on user.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
The vendor is working on a fix.
